I’ve completed the first of the book’s labs (some might call them tutorials).
We believe that the best way to learn the practicalities of web development is to do web development. That is, step-by-step, hands-on tutorials are a necessary component of learning web development. Unfortunately this type of learning material can be quite wordy. Including it within a published book would make the textbook much too long. So what we are doing for this book is to package them as separate downloadable content. They will be available to those who purchase the textbook or who adopt them for classroom use.
Each lab one contains step-by-step walkthroughs as well as practice exercises that can be assigned to the students for homework. Each tutorial takes between 40 to 60 minutes to complete; similarly each practice exercises take between 20 to 40 minutes to complete.
Each lab is connected to a separate chapter. This is the lab for Chapter 2 on HTML.
